And this one goes the other way - Verve inspired by Oasis, possibly. It's not a very clear connection, I'll admit, but I think the bit in Stormy Clouds sounds almost like a reversed and slowed down version of the bit in Cloudburst (and then there's the titles!).
Noel has a pure talent for taking a pre-existing piece of work and molding it into something new and unique, its fantastic.....however I wish noel would get off his high horse. He looks down on people who use outside help but completely leaves out that hes lifted many parts from other artists for his own songs as well has had outside help only to not credit them for their work which in many aspects is actually worse.
It is somewhat hypocritical to say the least. I get the criticism about songwriters because its offloading the main part of the work to someone else but Noel simply isnt the songwriting purity that he seems to hint towards.
Dont go away for example has the chorus straight up stolen from the real people and cigs and alcohol is just bang a gong with different lyrics. Even his new track "be careful what you wish for" is basically a re imagined "come together". I struggle to see how stealing a chorus from the real people is more respectable than actually crediting them for writing it.
Noel has demonstrated on a few occasions that he doesnt seem to have much respect for other people and is quite happy to straight up lie if the real state of events doesnt gel with his agenda. I can certainly understand how AA could be disappointed in the way he goes about things.
Im honestly surprised Noel hasnt had more issues with copyright considering artists like ed sheeran has been hammered for having a song that carries a similar melody to another. There is countless examples of Noel simply taking things and passing it off as his own. Its not even subtle in many of those cases.
love Noel but yeah. Hes certainly had help in different ways in the past, hes just more cunning about it than simply hiring in songwriters.
