Just thought this would be a fun hypothetical. I don't know about anyone else, but this year more than others has given me some more time to compare and contrast a bunch of their studio albums.

I consider Heathen Chemistry to be Oasis' worst album. There are some good songs on it, but the over all production is very bland.
DBTT was a breath of fresh air when it came out. Hearing Lyla as the first single made me very excited to hear the album and it didn't disappoint. So I'm voting DBTT.
DBTT. HC has very good songs on it, but at the same time includes the most weak of their catalogue (She is Love, All in the Mind)
DBTT includes a few of their finest, such as TUTS and Keep the Dream Alive (my favourite from the album). I still can´t believe they didn't even played it live or released as a single. I really hate the cheessy version of LTBL. Guess I got stucked with Noel's demo from 99.
But, overall, DBTT is a way better and more solid album.
Heathen Chemistry for me. I’ll always see this album as the proper Oasis line ups last album, I know it sounds strange with Bonehead and Guiggs long gone but I always thought Alan was important for the band and the albums after that just didn’t feel like the old Oasis. It might be an age thing as well, I really appreciated the gigs more on the Heathen Chemistry tour, the set list was quality as well and I think it was the last tour when Liam still had his voice. I like DBTT, it’s got some great stadium tracks like Lyla, Turn Up The Sun and The Importance of Being Idle but you could just see the split happening more so in the band as well.

Don't Believe The Truth
In Heathen Chemistry, it's seems that Noel have lost his compass, for that reason Gem , Andy and Liam contribute with their own compositions. But generally, the tracks are raw, weak, strange, etc.
With Don't Believe The Truth they peaked in the new composition roles as a consequence the album presents us a new oasis sound. A great effort with stadium hymns and a very few bad songs. (Zak Starkey should have been a permanent member).

I went with Heathen Chemistry. I think that ever though Heathen Chemistry is less cohesive than Don't Believe the Truth, underneath the bland and muddy production of Heathen Chemistry are better songs that were mega live. And the sequence of Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Songbird, and Little by Little always gets to me.

I completely agree on how Zak Starkey should have been a permanent member.

This is what i should have written in my first post. These are my thoughts exactly. I prefer listening to the live versions of the HC songs as they sound so much better.
Don't Believe the Truth for me. It had the best run of consistent songs on it since Be Here Now, and it made me feel that after a couple of slight mis-steps Oasis were truly a formidable force once again.
Crucially the LAG songs were the best they ever provided for an Oasis album, and I think that coupled with Noel back on winning ways it helped show the world what Mark II of the band could achieve.

I always thought Zak wasn’t the right choice, not saying he did a bad job nor am I saying he’s a shit drummer but thought he just didn’t fit the band. I’ve seen Zak play with The Who and he seems to be part of the furniture but for Oasis for some reason I wasn’t having it. Chris suited more in my opinion.
I like both albums and I don't get the hate for Heathen Chemistry. However Don't Believe The Truth just edges it for me. So I went with that but Heathen Chemistry has some of Oasis's best singles on it except for She Is Love.

I've gone with Heathen Chemistry personally. Always been a big fan of The Hindu Times and Hung in a Bad Place, plus I love Better man. I'm probably in the minority!

I've always liked The Hindu Times and Hung In A Bad Place too. Also, I think that Heathen Chemistry produced some of Oasis's best singles from the 2000's expect for She Is Love which I've never really liked.

I like She is Love but it's nothing more than a perfectly adequate album track. Is it filler? Potentially but it just happens to be filler I like!

Yeah, She Is Love is a filler and I'm not sure why it was released as a double A side with Little By Little really. But I guess at the time Noel thought it was a good idea or something.
