Liam Gallagher's fashion firm Pretty Green outlines Brexit plan
Liam Gallagher’s British fashion label Pretty Green is poised to expand at a faster rate internationally than in the UK as it prepares for Brexit, new accounts reveal.
The upmarket menswear firm, founded by the former Oasis frontman in 2009, said the move would mitigate the impact of any slowdown in the UK economy once Britain leaves the bloc.
It is closely monitoring UK consumer confidence, foreign exchange rates and inflationary movements “with a view to being proactive to mitigate any associated risk [from leaving the EU]”.
Pretty Green, known for its parka jackets and polo shirts, remained upbeat and praised demand for the brand.
Chief executive Richard Ralph told the Standard: “I’m really pleased with the progress that Pretty Green continues to make.”
He added: "We are looking forward to launching a new collection that Liam has been working on in the next few months.”
The clothing firm, whose largest shareholder is Gallagher, saw turnover jump to £38.2 million in the 16 months to January 2018, up from £21.2 million in the previous year.
Pre-tax losses narrowed to £1.5 million from a £5.6 million loss. It did not pay out a dividend.
It’s a shame really but it was bound to happen, should have kept it online in my opinion. When I go the store in Leeds it never seems busy and the prices are far too high. I also think the quality has gone downhill, I bought a good few bits when it first launched and just the odd thing in the sales now and again since and that was mainly due to there not being much I liked but for the right item I’d have happily paid full whack. Shame, but at least Liam can focus more on the music now.

They went quantity over quality unfortunately. Lost what made them special in the beginning.
Apart from two or three flag ship stores. London, Manchester and Glasgow would have been enough and definitely as you say, be online only.
Same as you, I was right into it at the start but hardly buy anything nowadays. In the last year one jacket and that’s been it.

Makes sense on what they’ve done. Hopefully it won’t cheapen the brand but I do expect there to be more ranges and that in my opinion was the downfall of Pretty Green
The fact that PG is currently offering 40% extra off sale items which are already up to 70% off says everything about the current state of the brand. And of course that they were bought by Sports Direct...
