Super VHS never took off as the cost outweighed the benefit to the common man. Most people used videos just for catching programmes when they were out, they weren't after flawless copies to treasure for life.
Even those who wanted long-term copies couldn't justify the cost of the Super VHS Recorder and the tapes, and like most on here I expect, I just taped stuff in long play mode to maximise the cost of a tape.
my family could only afford a mono vcr recorder. it wasn't until dvd/vcr combos were released i got my first stereo vcr. Luckily oasis footage broadcasted on Australian TV was scarce.

You sure the Word performance is from a promo tape? I'm aware of there being one but I don't think it's been circulated around traders unless i've missed something?

Thats one of em the tv snippets are ropey and look 3rd gen but gleneagles is great or at least is the best there is for the moment. Looks to have the other ones as well. I used to trade with a shop in manchester called clampdown and get vhs material in return . Must have a dig about. Speaking of obselete formats i picked live by the sea on video cd! only last week. Bargain £5.
