Interesting-thanks for posting this! I wonder if they will use old footage from the original films, or try to recreate classic scenes from scratch. It's odd because there are so many rights issues with the Terminator series that I imagine it could be quite costly for them to use old footage.
As I recall, all the Terminator films are owned by different studios, and I understand the music rights are complicated too. You get a sense of these kind of issues on some of the DVD extras on the more recent entries in the Terminator series... for the most part they don't use any clips of the original films. It's sometimes a bit like those music documentaries that can't use any clips of the albums they're discussing.
Also, I hope they bring back Brad Fiedel to provide the incidental music. To me his electronic score, in particular the 'metallic heartbeat' of the title character, is an essential part of the Terminator films, and was ingenious in its blurring of the lines between sound effects and music, particularly in the morphing string samples associated with the T-1000 in T2. Some of the sounds I thought must have been pure 'sound effects' when watching the film were actually part of his music on the soundtrack CD, and vice versa.
New rumours surrounding the plot-development for the reboot of the venerable cyborg-thriller series suggest it will use some of the ideas from the original film and adapt them for use in the new sequel
One report claims the film is blending in actual re-shot scenes from the first movie.
Movie writer Drew McWeeney from the US site HitFix revealed on a recent video post: “Kind of like Back to the Future, the Terminator: Genesis script folds into the first film in the series.
“There’s a scene in the script where literally, we see the scene in the first Terminator where Arnold steps out, the punks threaten him, he rips Bill Paxton’s heart out and takes his clothes and wanders off.
“And as soon as that scene ends, another Arnold Schwarzenegger who’s older, and bearded and a very different version of the Terminator, comes walking in from the other side and plays another scene, right at the scene of that first incident.”
It's also been rumoured that in the movie Arnold Schwarzenegger's aged T-800 model has been guarding Sarah Connor - played by Emilia Clarke, and who will become the mother of revolutionary John Connor - for nearly 30 years.
----------------------
The Terminator from the future will arrive on earth, attack some punks , and then slaughter his way through a bunch of Sarah Connors’ – until he finds the correct target.
“And, of course, Kyle Reese (Courtney) volunteers to go back to 1984 and save Sarah – just as he did first time around. But don’t expect everything to work out like it did in the original... something is going to play out different.
“And then, we’ll also be taken back to the events of the sequel. The scene where the T-1000 (played by Robert Patrick in “Terminator 2 : Judgement Day”), posing as a cop, visiting John Connor’s home, where he meets – and consequently kills – foster parents Todd (Xander Berkeley) and Janelle (Jenette Goldstein), is in there. As are several other key moments.
“And then we’ll be going back to moments we haven’t seen on film before – such as scenes with young Sarah and her parents.”
I'm fairly excited for Terminator: Genysis (not sure about that spelling though...). I seem to be in the minority who really liked Salvation, it's my second favourite behind T2, and this seems to have captured the spirit of the original films, especially the John Connor/Future scenes, which look just like they did in the original film. But... this film looks convoluted as hell, it's basically a reboot, mixed with the plots of T1 & T2?
Plus, Jai Courtney bores the hell out of me, after seeing Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Jason Clarke would've been a better choice for Kyle Reese.

the casting for kyle reese is way off imo, he doesn't look like a soldier from a destroyed world.
the film is essentially an alternate timeline so rebooting the series without rebooting it, I think it looks good, salvation was alright imo, it just didn't quite click for various reasons.
I think its going to skip forward a few times, arnie clearly looks older / different in some scenes than others.
I wish they would bring back the sarah connor chronicles that was getting amazing just before they axed it.
they've done an awesome job on arnies CGI, theyve even used the same music from the first film in this scene, my expectations have been raised, the swerve is pretty cool.
seems to be getting slated by critics, 25% on rotten tomatoes, 38/100 metacritic, Angry joe really liked it gave it an 8/10 though and hes pretty spot on with his reviews so guess Ill have to watch it myself.
Ive just seen it and I really liked it, its not as good as the first two obviously but its much better follow up than T3 and salvation, emelia clarks and arnolds relationship is beautifully done, jai courtney actually surprised me with how well he ended up fitting in to the film,I dont know what the critics watched but it must of been a different movie, its no where near as bad as people have made out.
arnold still has it as the terminator, he was amazing, the whole aging thing was believable and made sense within the story, the humour was well placed, theres abit when he gets arrested and they are taking his mugshots to the music of "bad boys" and it was really funny.
the only thing Id say was abit off for me was the ending, the story seemed to building towards arnold breaking down due to his age (having issues with his hand etc) and creating an emotional ending but then sort of tails off right before the credits and goes abit weird to create a happy ending.
8/10. Actually made me abit sad that this will likely be the last time we will see arnold in the role, especially since it doesnt appear to be doing well.
Just looking over some files I put together a few months back for a project I started, but left unfinished. The idea was to make an isolated music score for The Terminator (1984). I don't have the right software to rip from Blu-Ray, so the video here is ripped from an old DVD - just put together quickly to see how it'd work. I replaced the original audio with Brad Fiedel's music from the soundtrack CD. The whole thing would be a huge task, so I just did a few test scenes. I may go back to this at some point. I think it would need much more patience (and computer processor power) than I can muster at the moment though, ha.
