They pulled in just behind the bridge He lays her down, he frowns "Gee, my life's a funny thing, am I still too young?" He kissed her then and there She took his ring, took his babies Took him minutes, took her nowhere Heaven knows she'd have taken anything
"You need to be yourself, you can't be no one else."

There's a brand new dance but I don't know it's name The people from bad homes do again and again It's big and bland, full of tension and fear They do it over there but we don't do it here
Fashion - turn to the left! Fashion - turn to the right! Oooh, fashion! "We are the goon squad and we're coming to town Beep-beep! Beep-beep!"
There's a brand new talk but it's not very clear The people from good homes are talking this year It's loud and it's tasteless, I've not heard it before You shout it whilst you're dancing on the dance floor
"You need to be yourself, you can't be no one else."
Just wondering, listening to Life On Mars? before whether he ever bettered it. What does everyone else reckon, is Life On Mars the zenith of his career or do you like something a bit more obscure from him?
Personally I WOULD say it's his best tune. It's just a great song, the perfect tune if such a thing exists. After that I would say:
2. Ziggy Stardust 3. Ashes To Ashes 4. "Heroes" (only just warmed to it, after hearing again in 'Perks Of Being A Wallflower' actually, goosebumps when it came on over the end credits) 5. Changes 6. Station To Station 7. TVC15 8. The Jean Genie 9. Moonage Daydream 10. Space Oddity
Incredible output just from those 10 tracks alone and there's still gaping holes of Bowie's back catalogue where I've not ventured yet!
"You need to be yourself, you can't be no one else."
There's a soundtrack to the film "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" that features musician Seu Jorge playing some Bowie classics in classical guitar style, singing in Portuguese. Very nice, well worth a listen.

"I've come on a few years from my Hollywood Highs The best of the last, the cleanest star they ever had I'm stiff on my legend, the films that I made Forget that I'm fifty, cause you just got paid
Crack, baby, crack - show me you're real Smack, baby, smack - is that all that you feel? Suck, baby, suck - give me your head Before you start professing that you're knocking me dead"
"You need to be yourself, you can't be no one else."

Stone love - she kneels before the grave, A brave son - who gave his life to save the slogan That hovers between the headstone and her eyes For they penetrate her grieving
New love - a boy and girl are talking New words - that only they can share in New words - a live so strong it tears their hearts to sleep Through the fleeting hours of morning
"You need to be yourself, you can't be no one else."

You know you're a Bowie fan when you see a picture of a regular five-pointed black star and you're like "Oh, it's the Star of David!" even though that's obviously not what 'Star of David' actually means 😁
