Hi there
By accident I stumbled across this great forum and signed up. What an awsome place this is: Interesting topics, tons of accurate information, clean design, clearly arranged bootleg and gallery section and last but not least a friendly atmosphere. Therefore it´s time to introduce myself:
I am 34 years old Oasis fan from Germany. I was infected with the Oasis-virus in 1994 by seeing the Live Forever video in my parents´ bedroom late at night. I think it was on MTVs 120 Minutes or Ray Cokes Most Wanted show. From this day on Oasis belong to my life including all ups and downs. There are very few bands I am able to listen to (nearly) any time anywhere without getting bored. Oasis are one of them. Of course there are periods of being more or less into the Gallaghers. But for me Oasis is like a best friend. This means you don´t have to be in contact every day to know what you have. There is only one thong that matters: If necessary you can count on your friend. I think this is kind of what Oasis is to me, a faithful companion.
And heres some basic information :-)
Q: Do I know as much about Oasis as most of this forum members do?
A: No. Therefore please be patient if I ask stupid questions; e.g. regarding exact dates of demo recordings.
Q: Do you collect Oasis stuff?
A: Yes but no ;-) I do buy all official albums, singles and videos of course, most of them in various versions (12", 7", CDs, Cassettes, VHS and DVDs). I do own several books and some promo stuff as well. Same goes for some silver pressed bootlegs. But I do not buy everything what says Oasis on it.
Q: Top 5 songs?
A: Hard question but if I have to give an answer it would be:
D´You Know What I Mean (all time favourite video as well)
Morning Glory
Whatever
Supersonic
The Importance of Being Idle
Q: Favourite LP?
A: Be Here Know
Q: Favourite era?
A: Be Here Know-era
Q: Lowlight as an Oasis fan?
A: I missed Oasis in 1997 during the Be Here Now-Tour in Oberhausen because I was ill. Next time I saw them was in Cologne in 2000. It was nothing but disappointing.
Q: Highlight as an Oasis fan?
A: Having a couple of beers and a good time with Bonehead before a gig of his then-band The Vortex in Duesseldorf in 2009. A friend of mine and I have been hanging out right in front of this tiny venue called Pretty Vacant when Bonehead and his bandmates showed up after they did their soundcheck. Bonehead flipped through Paul Mathurs book and told his bandmates and us the story behind nearly every single picture in the book. You could see his eyes shine while telling all this stories. My friend brought this book hoping to meet Bonehead and having it signed by him what actually happend. Bonehead was that down to earth guy and we had that much fun. It was just his band, a couple of his mates and about five fans including myself. All of us hung out for about one and a half hour, then went in the club and saw a great gig in front of about 20 people. After the gig we had another few beer in an irish pub. Awesome night!
