Regarding the Rolling Stones covers recorded during the Definitely Maybe sessions. Pashca kindly sent me this a while back, which he translated from a foreign-language book on Oasis. Huge thanks to him for this.
The following interview extract is from a book called "Oasis", by Cyril Deluermoz.
Cyril: How much did Oasis' records cost? Noel: Definitely Maybe cost £75,000 and (What's The Story) Morning Glory? £80,000. We didn't spend a fortune on albums that don't sell, unlike some other artists.
C: Are these low costs a result of how quickly Oasis finishes the recording? Noel: Of course. The first album was recorded in two sessions, one lasted three weeks and the other one fifteen days, but (What's The Story) Morning Glory? was ready in a month: fifteen days recording and fifteen mixing.
C: What's Sawmills Studio like? This is the studio were you recorded many Definitely Maybe tracks. Noel: The studios are on an island in the estuary of a river in Cornwall. You can only get there in a boat. In such conditions it's hard to do anything but to get things done. Those sessions were more productive than the Monnow Valley sessions, where we recorded 'Live Forever' and four Stones covers: 'You Can't Always Get What You Want', 'Gimme Shelter', 'Jumpin' Jack Flash' and 'Brown Sugar', with me on vocals.
C: Where did those recordings go then? Noel: They're at home and I've got the only copy. That's why they don't appear on any Oasis bootlegs. Those covers will appear some day on an unpublished stuff album.

was noel on vocals for all of those stones covers? or just "brown sugar"? would be pretty awesome to hear Liam on gimme shelter considering he was singing it in beady eye.
really hope noel releases a boxset or something in the future with all these bits and pieces weve never heard.

Yes, the way it's phrased is ambiguous - like you said it could mean that Noel sang all of the tracks mentioned, or just Brown Sugar. I think I've only seen these covers mentioned in one or two other articles but don't recall the sources offhand. I'll check tomorrow and see if I can find any more info on this. I did ask Dave Scott about these tracks and he said no Stones covers were done whilst he was there, so I'm assuming they were done in the last week or so of the band's stay at Monnow Valley.
I'd love to hear these covers at some point. I imagine it's the kind of recording session outtake we might see on a future reissue.
"It's about getting a bottle of cider with your mates, sticking on a beatles album, talking shite, puking up, meeting strange girls and maybe having sex. It's about escaping" Noel Gallagher, 1994.
