We got little to no context about their split other than some tweets. Gems wife responded to some tweets
"You kept that under your hat Mrs Archer." "Only because I found out about it yesterday." "Why?" "Er...Liam left "
Wasn't exactly that but close to that, a big reason would BE (HAH) that they weren't successful as Liam hoped they would be, even though he talked a lot about doing it for the fans and just wanting to sing some rock n roll tunes. When BE released I was a bit disappointed at the lack of rockin tunes, a lot more acoustic stuff in it, almost half n half, not including the bonus tracks. Maybe they weren't becoming rock n roll enough for Liam, maybe he didn't want to do the acoustic tour. In those gigs he sounds great but he doesn't look that into it to me, reading the lyrics off a sheet in front of him. Even the album title "BE" they were like "fuck if I know why it's called that, be a bee, whatever.", but they talked greatly about Different Gear, Still Speeding, wanting to prove a point then. This is just my thoughts while listening to Beady Eye on a slow day at work.

A part of me thinks Liam left cause Beady Eye could never be as big as Oasis and Liam needed to be in a massive band. Will be interesting to see what he does next though.
I've found this a strange one to be honest, and I bet Liam now regrets this decision to break Beady Eye up. At the time of the split he had just started divorce proceedings so his head would have just been on that, could have been easy enough to say the band are on a break I guess? But it seems Andy had a get out plan straight away with reforming Ride, was this already in place? Did Andy mention it to Liam before and he took it the wrong way? Gem had a pretty hard time around that time as well, so things really wasn't well in the band. I thought Liam was really trying to get a new audience for Beady Eye with the 2nd album, it must have pained Liam to be going on a show like The Voice, then just when you thought he was getting rid of that wild image and settling down, the shit hit the fan with him shagging around.
The 2nd album tour ended up with a lot of dates being cancelled due to various reasons, Liam once again had to swallow his pride and decided to play Glastonbury, all be it on a Friday dinner time? That must be some come down for him after being in the headline slot twice and also saying he would never play it again, again to try and get new fans of Beady Eye. He again had to swallow his pride and start playing Oasis songs at gigs because fans kept shouting for them at gigs, again something he said he wouldn't do because he wanted to get Beady Eye over. Not many Beady Eye songs got a great reaction at the gigs, but the crowd went nuts for the Oasis songs which was always going to be the case. On the first album, the US tour at the end got some really bad sales, the venues were small and even they wasn't sold out, you imagine Liam who was used to selling out massive stadiums with Oasis, now in small venues with a small crowd.
Beady Eye was always going to be "Oasis 2.0" because of the members in the band, which does get you wondering how Liam would have got on if he had gone on his own and found some new musicians to form a band with? Which I think he needs to do now and stop waiting around for Noel to say, let's get Oasis back together, it's not going to happen anytime soon.
I saw them a few times on both album tours, and thought they was quality, Liams voice at the Leeds gig on the BE tour was the best i've heard him in years. The whole atmosphere at a live gig when Liam is on stage just feels electric, with Oasis or Beady Eye he just has that pressence about him. I loved both albums, and really thought they was going to stay around for a while and it was such a shame to see them split.
As for his next move, who knows? He might have lost his writing mate Gem to Noel now

I just can't help thinking that the private stuff was not helpful. Andy, Gem and especially their wives are still very close to Liam's ex wife, according to Twitter, Instagramm etc. (Brilliant way to legally "stalk" people!) That cannot have been a very healthy athmosphere backstage. Of course, we don't know how they deal with something like that and over time, with the break they wanted to take anyway, maybe that would not have been a problem a few years later. But maybe, together with Gem's accident and other things (we never found out why they cancelled Coachella, just that it obviously pissed off Liam, did we?) it was all just too much, at least for Liam, as it seems that it was him that pulled the plug.
I hope it wasn't just the lack of success, because that would be pretty lame, IMO, seeing that there are other musicians that have to fight for their careers for lack of money and still go on, for love of music.
But Liam obviously only just now drew a line under sorting out his private mess, so maybe we should give him a little bit more time to get back on his feet before we write him off for good.

I randomly remembered that Beatles documentary/movie thing Liam was doing, Beady Eye were doing the soundtrack for that as well. What's left of that too?

Been listening to them a bit lately. I was never a big fan, but have warmed up to them a bit. Probably cause I miss hearing Liam's voice.
Me too. And I'm gutted to think we won't hear any new Liam songs for the foreseeable future. Hell he might never record again if he keeps up his current attitude.
I think they were moving away from the rock sound Liam was used to and he's not a talented enough musician to bring it back to where he wanted it. He'll put together a new band that'll take orders.

But as much as I did (and still do) like Beady Eye even though I don't listen to them much now, it all worked out for the best in the end especially for Liam.
