Recently started using Discogs and had a query I couldn't see answered on their site. The record I'm searching for isn't Oasis-related, but as it's a general question about record collecting I wondered if anyone here might be able to help. Mods, feel free to move or delete this post if it's in the wrong place.
The vinyl single I'm looking for (The Machines - Electronic Links) is long out of print and there are no copies listed for sale on the site.
However the listing does show that a few members of the site have a copy in their collection. Is there a way of putting an offer to those members to ask if they would be interested in selling their copy? Or would it be best to just make my "want list" public, and hope that it'll come up for sale eventually? As I said, bit of a newbie question but any info would be much appreciated.
You can see who owns the vinyl by clicking the number of users who declared to have a copy of the vinyl. Then you should click each user and send them a personal message with the envelope icon in their profile. Some users have a personal description in their profiles stating whether or not they are open to non requested offers. I hope I was clear enough, but if you have further questions please do ask! Cheers!

Cheers Pascha, that's very clear and helpful! Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I'll see how I get on by writing to some of the users in the way you suggest. It seems to be quite an obscure release. I found one of the tracks from that single on a compilation CD, but the ones I'm looking for weren't included. I may have to go crate digging for this one
You should definitely have a go! I'm not acquainted with the band, I'll listen to them later this evening Good luck with that one and don't hesitate to tell me if you need more help with discogs!

Thanks Pascha, much appreciated. Did a bit of research on this and 'The Machines' was one of the aliases used by Eric Peters for his early electronic music. The single I'm after was released in 1966. The B-side Electronic Rhythm is available on a compilation CD called Barry 7's Connectors and was also used on an advert for booking.com last year, which was about finding the right hotel to recover from jet lag.
I'm after the tracks on the A-side, which have never been reissued. There are some similarly-titled tracks of his available online but they're not the ones I'm looking for, strangely. The search continues. I'll see how I get on with writing to collectors on Discogs. Thanks again.
Here's another track by Eric Peters, from later in his career. In 1978 he recorded an album called Music For Synthesisers, which is very lush ambient music on the theme of space travel. Never been reissued, so it's one to hunt down on vinyl. Sounds great on headphones.
