I recently realized that SO MANY oasis tunes sound really melancholic to me somehow like, not always sad... just like there's some sort of constant "longing" :S i love it personally... but i feel like you notice that even more when you listen to the demos sung by noel ^^ for example: when our liam sings supersonic he sounds super-confident, when noel sings it it immediatly gets a completely different vibe to it "I need to be myself, I can't be no one else..." it doesn't sound confident anymore, but tired/kinda sad .-. I'm not saying I don't like it, i just recently noticed how different he makes the songs feel Do you think thats because Noel intended the songs to be different but Liam made them "happier" in his own version? I definitely think a lot of Noel-sung songs are melancholy, or maybe wistful would be a better way to describe them.
Half the World Away, Sad Song, Talk Tonight would be prime examples - and his voice/arrangement make a lot of traditionally Liam-sung songs sound different when he sings them.
Rockin’ Chair, Cast No Shadow, Champagne Supernova and I’m Outta Time would be prime Liam-sung examples, along with Slide Away.
Live Forever is that perfect alchemy of wistfulness and triumphalism.
