Which do you prefer, Be Here Now or Standing on the Shoulder of Giants?

If I am being honest, I listen to SOTSOG way more often than Be Here Now. A lot of hardcore/not-casual Oasis fans seems to applaud SOTSOG as a good step in a more experimental direction for the group, so I thought this poll would be an interesting one.

I wonder how Be Here Now Rework would've been if Noel had competed it? As it stands its really close but my immediate thought was Giants, Grade A production, I love Who Feels Love, great Oasis was able to put out a track like that. Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth is resembles Morning Glory (the song) to me, not lyrically but the structure is quite similar. Gas Panic obviously is phenomenal. Where Did It All Go Wrong is a nice personal song from Noel, I can't remember if it was that or Sunday Morning Call, Liam said one of those 2 was his favorite off the album around the release. The albums so nice on the ears.

I can’t really pick as each album has 2 of my favourite Oasis songs on it, Gas Panic and Fade In Out. Both belting albums tho, fond memories of queuing on the day of release for both albums before the tinternet ruined things. The days of booking your summer around Oasis when they announced a tour, them were the days

I know that Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants has one or two dud tracks (Put Yer Money Where Your Mouth Is and I Can See A Liar) but I still prefer it over Be Here Now which is my least favourite Oasis album. I like some tracks on it but for me the songs are just too long.

Yeah, the song sounds better live but I still think it's one of Noel's worse songs from that era.

Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants

Here the gallagher brothers, free from the pressure of being who they were or who they had become or etc present a good album -without "Bonehead" and "Guigsy"- even though many didn't care which direction they would take. The Noel's megalomaniac start to wane, the experimentation takes it's place. The Beatles, The Doors, Pink Floyd, etc influences are remarkable. Even some B-sides are good.

Stand By Me would have been better if it was a bit shorter and I've always preferred the acoustic version by the pool.

I have never liked SOTSOG tbh. I hardly ever listen to it, same with HC. 

SOTSOG lacks decent singles imo, HC has better singles but the album as a whole is generally forgettable (plus the production is a bit dull).

Had they somehow combined the singles into SOTSOG then it probably would've been a much better album.

Yeah, sorry to dig this old thread back up, but since it's SOTSOG's 23rd birthday, I decided to listen to SOTSOG again. I love the majority of the songs on SOTSOG, but I think that Be Here Now is slightly better.

Both albums are close to each other, but for me I prefer SOTSOG. I feel that Be Here Now came at a time when the band decided to do everything in excess. The album is completely filled past boiling point with guitar tracks which add too much noise, and while some of the songs on the album suit the long length (D’You Know What I Mean being a great example) songs like It’s Getting Better Man, and even All Around The World are a few minutes too long. With SOTSOG, it came at a time when Noel was writing some of his most personal lyrics, and while some songs are pretty basic in their lyricality (PYMWYMI) I can still enjoy the production side of the album and the sounds the band were making (the choirs are used exceptionally on the album). I also just really like all the songs on the album personally, whereas there’s a few songs on Be Here Now I don’t enjoy (but I can enjoy them live for their stripped back quality).

Ima have to go with be here now on this one. I mean he's SOTSOG has some classics such as go let it out and gas panic but you can't forget about Stand by me which is one of the greatest songs ever written. All around the world, I hope I think I know. In conclusion both albums are very good but I do prefer be here now overall. No hate to others who think different.
