I just wonder how L4E managed to avoid any problems with ProBoards. Ok there's no officially released material available there but apart from that users posted basically any Oasis bootleg ever released.
Thats the thing that doesn't add up. L4E manages to go on without hassle wirh their bootleg section yet this forum is constantly picked up on it. Something is definitely not right.
Yeah, i've never understood that myself. L4E has posted the same stuff for years in the form of re-uploads and have links for sites such as Multiupload, Fileserve, Megaupload and Rapidshare, obviously the links are dead, but how that wasn't flagged at the time by ProBoards, i don't know.
I used to use a site to download Football Matches about 15 years ago, match would be played, the broadcast would be uploaded either that day or the next, it used Rapidshare and Megaupload - closed when all the bother with the aforementioned sites happened.
How L4E has managed to stay online without any form of closing threats, i'll never know.
All in all, i'm just incredibly sorry to hear this noelsoasis - You've done so much for the community over the years - I for one would like to thank you. I'm eternally grateful
On a side note - is it worth going with a different forum host?
I'd be more than happy to chip in with the costs if needs be and could contribute in terms of media. I dabbled in a bit of forum creating/hosting years ago but not sure what the situation is now with sites.

When I fixed up the boards I made sure no official content was posted. Instead I chose to share Youtube videos which is not breaking any TOS as far as i can see.
As for us being targeted... I don't understand why either? Removing that board benefits no one, but if I didn't remove the board, the entire forum would be next. It was good while it lasted so thanks to everyone who contributed recordings over the years, it's been swell.
cloudburst I have thought about moving forum providers but the same thing will just end up happening again. I would hate to spend all my time working on a new site for this only to happen again. Plus we wouldn't be able to take all the posts with us. We would have to start fresh.
so whats the point of this site now people will just move back to L4E
Ok. You don't get it. That's ok, but at least be respectful for all the work NoelOasis has done here for so many years. A lot of the stuff you probably have has been shared on here before and/or by Mark. There's a lot of work behind all of this.
Mark: Is undeniable that something weird is happening here. I don't know if someone is trying to shut down the forum, or if the ProBoards staff are just idiots. As some of you said, it makes no sense the L4E forum is running like nothing, just keeping the official stuff out, but keeping the rest of those shows available, is just a joke. I'm not saying that they should be closed or something like that. I'm just curious of what is the real reason for this persecution against SNH.
If there's anything we can help, let us know Mark.

It's a very weird situation. I have been thinking a lot about it the last couple of days and the only logical conclusion i can come to is that maybe they don't like the thought of a small forum hosting pretty much their entire bootleg catalogue (with permanent links) for free in the best quality, isn't something that sits well with management. They even went after my MEGA account as i received notifications that some of my files were breaking TOS.
Other forums may get away with it cause of dead links (or links that expire quickly), how disorganized it is and maybe the admins have connections within the industry to keep it online, i don't know..
I tried my best to remove all official media and I'm 100% certain i did get most of it. The copyright notice said the entire board was breaking TOS i just don't see how that was possible.. How about SHOW ME the offending threads/posts and I will remove them not just say "yeah the entire board has to go" the last time this happened i pleaded with Proboards staff to show me the posts and they just kept saying the entire board has to be removed, so i can't win.
I know L4E has a thread dedicated to material that's not allowed because it's been released, going through each year, and gig. Perhaps having something similar and making sure everything fits the criteria would maybe solve this problem? Maybe they assume because there's no thread disclosing what content can and can't be on the forum that it's hosting copyrighted material.
I'm just throwing ideas into the wind. It could be anything at this point, but if the board is ever put back up again (if ever), it wouldn't hurt to add it.

I guess we will never know the real reason behind all of this. Regarding the possibility of the management being involved, it would be just embarrasing, but not impossible. The Pearl Jam's managament are a bunch of witch hunters when certain stuff is liberated or leaked, or taking down even certain audience videos in Youtube.
I dont know the dynamic behind the forums/proboards service, but I guess logic dictates that you are a client, and even when you're paying, you have to follow some basic rules. If you don't, they warn you and indicates what rule you broke, with proof. But "threating" with closing the whole forum is just ridiculous. What kind of business runs like that?
That drives me to think that someone just targeted the forum and has been using the official stuff as an excuse in previous occasions, and now is just pushing for you to quit.
Do you know of another way of running a site, blog, etc in which bootlegs and non-official stuff can be shared without risking for it to be shut down? There's quite a few sites which offers bootlegs of plenty of artists, and they've been running for years.
I'm sure we can do something with the help of a few of us.
Ive been talking with Mark and its dissapoonting what happend here we are oasis really hardcore fans that buy, collect and go to concerts we dont have any benefit of this, i collect evey single thing related with them. I found this place the perfect community of real fans and above all nice persons who share the same interest of the band that change my life.
I still dont know how we can keep alive what Mark start without problems

I’m sorry to hear about this everyone. Strange situation indeed, considering plenty of other forum sites have copyrighted material in spots but haven’t been taken down. (Though if their different sources like audience sources, there shouldn’t be a problem with that).
The problem these days is, that a forum/blog/site focusing on just one band and providing a lot of bootlegs and videos (in this case more or less 90% of what is around bootleg-wise) isn't liked a lot by the music industry. Has happened with other bands fanbases and sometimes even worse. Guns N Roses would be a good example here. They took pretty much everything down a few years ago. Forums, Youtube channels, Facebook groups and accounts. They tuned it down a bit again, but bootleg sharing is still not possible without any problems after a while.
I know that Orchard Music is targeting Oasis footage since a couple of months, but that's more on Youtube. But also MTV/Paramount/Viacom and all the other copyright holders are getting a pain in the ass for more and more useless 3rd generation vhs copies that nobody really cares. There's always some money to make. And there would be, if they would release the stuff in proper quality. But ususally they don't.
Sharing bootlegs/video on a level like here will only work within a small group (private sites, trackers,....) and with invites. Or it will be discords or some darknet site. But this also won't work if it gets bigger.
So at the end it's either a small group or it uploading the same stuff over and over again.
