Keep an ear out for something very special from the vaults coming soon…
I wonder what that could be...
By the way, the Supersonic CD & 7" (the CD still being advertised as being UK exclusive) are now widely available across Europe. Too bad I can't cancel my order anymore...
Just bought this on Qobuz. The Live version is very likely from a DAT source with a 32kHz sample rate as there's a hard cutoff in the frequencies above 16kHz.
The studio version they included looks like they decoded a 128khz mp3 of the album mix. Terrible.
If I had some gum, I'd chew a hole into the sun...

And there's me thinking they'd pull out all the stops for this campaign. Not off to a good start by the sounds of it.

I apologize because Im not the greatest when it comes to audio terms. Does the data then show the live version was take from an MP3 version of the DAT source?
Crazy. The live version sounds like an average soundboard bootleg at best anyway.
It’s probably not a soundboard in my opinion, a lot was recorded backstage in the early days of Oasis by some of the touring crew so which is why it sounds a good audience recording. They probably didn’t record full gigs but mostly just the odd songs which is why we’ve just got this. No excuse for the poor mix tho, which is why I prefer bootlegs with fan made remasters as it’s done by genuine fans who want the best results, this is just half arsed.
Nothing surprises me when it comes to the management of Oasis I’m afraid, but on the other hand we all moan about it yet these vinyls are sold out so is it actually clever management? I’m certain we’ll get a 30th anniversary super duper edition with a 2024 remaster along with a track or 2 we’ve already got with the wrong date and venue but I was surprised with the Knebworth release, I thought they did a really good job of that (apart from not putting the audio of both nights out there instead of a compilation of both nights), so do hope they surprise us but I think not. I mean, the Definitely Maybe tour and radio sessions were pretty well recorded and have been out there for many years so what are we actually expecting?
Yeah, I totally agree with you and I didn't bother to buy the CD and 7' vinyl because I still have all of the original versions of Oasis's cd singles and all of their 7' vinyls as well.
Just a heads-up. I'll be posting a bunch of spectrograms, probably over the weekend. It seems that nearly every single Sony-era single and album has been replaced/updated on the streaming services.
It seems to have occurred some time betweenn the release of The Masterplan (Remastered) in November and the recent Supersonic releases. I would guess it must have happened around the time that the full version of Familiar to Millions and Time Flies were added back to the streaming catalogues, within the last two months.
The bad news is that nearly every track in the catalogue, with a few exceptions, shows the same fingerprints of lossy encoding that Supersonic does up the thread.
Just to clarify that this has not always been the case. I have rips of every album and single from earlier in 2023 that perfectly match the original CD masters from the 90's-00's, without exception.
The new Supersonic CD single also has these "updated" versions.
Currently, I've verified that Qobuz, Tidal, and Deezer are all now using these updated/bastardized masters. I'm struggling to understand what Oasis's team are doing.
