Watched this last night. Enjoyed it a lot more than I thought. The zombies are scary as fuck in a real world sense. They change so fast and attack like a swarm of bees. Thought once they left Israel it slowed down a bit and some parts were completely unbelievable but Id def recommended it to anyone.

sternumman i loved the fact the movie got into the action right away. the first scene in the city was intense and it didn't let up till they got aboard the navy ship.
The Terminator on blu-ray. One of my favourite SF films and the recent UK release is an excellent transfer, especially when you consider the film's 1984 vintage and relatively low budget.

Yes the new transfer is amazing, even though they did change the colour tint

Heh, agreed... there is a bit more of a teal tint to the new transfer which some viewers have noted is a characteristic of more recent home video releases of James Cameron's films (I think this may be his personal preference which he communicates to the telecine colourist. I understand he has final approval on all telecine transfers of his films - so no remastering can be done without his approval. I think this may be one reason why an HD remaster of the Abyss has been held up... he's been busy working on Avatar. Possibly the same deal with a 4k restoration of T2 as well.)
As you say though the overall picture quality on the restored Terminator is amazing: the picture is perfectly steady, crisp and detailed without being over-sharpened, and the natural grain of the film stock has been preserved. I believe the restoration was handled by Lowry Digital (who restored Star Wars and Blade Runner, amongst many others, for Blu-ray) and they scanned the original negatives in 4k resolution, down-converted to 1080 for the Blu-Ray.
I still really like the remixed 5.1 soundtrack, notwithstanding the fact that many of the sound effects (gunshots mainly) had to be replaced, due to the original elements being lost. The gun sounds in the original mix were very rough and low-fi but some of them did sound more "meaty" if that makes any sense - like the gunshots when Terminator shoots the first Sarah Connor. Brad Fiedel's score is incredibly intense in surround. If I were to nit pick it's a slight shame they didn't keep the mono theatrical mix as an option... it was on an earlier US DVD and LaserDisc prior to that though. I enjoyed the blu greatly though... closest I'll get to seeing it at the cinema I think!
If you're a big fan of The Terminator I'd recommend tracking down the original soundtrack CD released by DCC records. This is an audiophile mastering by Steve Hoffman and, if memory serves, is the only version to feature all the new wave 80s rock (or should I say rawk) tracks featured in the Tech Noir and other scenes. You may be able to find it on Amazon, they had some at a fairly good price last time I looked.
i've seen we're tzhe millers last night. good movie with some very good jokes
I would never call a gay guy a faggot – unless he’s being a faggot. If I would watch two dudes blowin’ each other, I would be respectful to them. But if one of them would put the dick out of his mouth and start saying annoying faggy things like ›People from Phoenix are Phoenicians‹ or something like that, I would say: ›Quit being a faggot and suck that dick! - Louis Ck

You know a lot about the movie. My favorite part about the production of the film was the studio had suggested O. J. Simpson for the role of the Terminator, but Cameron did not feel that Simpson would be believable as a killer. Think its a great movie. Love the idea of switching it up and making him the good guy in T2.
