It's not an item I have in my collection but I think it would be great to track down one day, a symbol of the band's early days. There are also some minor differences to the version on Live Demonstration too, which Mr Monobrow has noted on his site here: www.mrmonobrow.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/definitely.htm
I believe only around 500 copies were pressed (in December 93) and this helped get the song put on BBC Radio 1's playlist (C-list) where it got about 20 plays in total. One of the first times a demo got playlisted I think. Tony McCarroll recalls in his book the great moment when they first heard it on the radio... in the van on the way back to Manchester after recording Supersonic at the Pink Museum in Liverpool.
The Walrus 12" White label promo was cheaper to get at the time, which I ended up getting.
I thought the Walrus one was the most expensive of them all! Looks like you lucked out
Didn't they make a CD version of this famous promo to celebrate the 2001 Noise and Confusion gigs?
lol yeh, think I managed to get the Walrus 12" for about £220 if I remember right, as at the time I wasn't prepared to pay something like £50 more for the Columbia 12".
The CD Promo of Columbia was released at roughly the same time in 2004 - off the top of my head.
There were some great promos around in 2002-2006
The Heathen Chemistry stuff we got was great, then with DBTT we got a few 12" promo's of non-single - Mucky Fingers was a nice one to have.
That all led into the Stop The Clocks promos - Champagne Supernova 12" Lynch remix etc (basically a re-release of the 12" that came out in '95).
The Best There Was...
The Best There Is...
The Best There Ever Will Be!
WHO WAS IT THAT SAID: "KEEP WHAT YA GOT...BY GIVING IT ALL AWAY". I once had over 1000 LPs, a really varied and exotic collections of floor bongs and a black onyx and diamond earring that cost me about $1000.00 US. And they're all gone. Less IS more my brother.
I used to have Columbia, Champagne Supernova and Whatever 12 inch promos along with WTSMG promo CD with Step On on it amongst many other items that I wish I still had.
But in a moment of having to pay for Christmas for three kids, I sold them for next to nothing.

needs must mate. I've done the same with stuff like harrison's 'wonderwall' and 'electronic sounds' albums on zapple. kind of broke my 'collecting' mindset for good. although made me determined to hang on to my Oasis 12" promos a few years later though - they're my pension! still, you can always buy stuff back in the future (at more than you sold it for!), but christmas and family things only happen once.

Living in manchester the original turns up very often at the 2nd hand shops like vinyl exchange but its always been a pricey slab of vinyl. I got the anniversary reissue for £10 which i was happy with.
