Noticed we haven't got a thread on the good old Game of Thrones, unless I can't find it!
The 4th Season started off with a cracking shock! Knew it was going to happen but didn't expect it this early, really shocked me anyhow. Cracking program tho
I still haven't seen a single episode but now that I'm on holiday I think I might do a GOT marathon to get caught up. I was actually trying to read the books first but that's taking way too long.

I tried the first book after watching the first series but I soon lost interest as the books ain't as raunchy as the TV series! Think that is what is keeping me hooked. Because I work away from home during the week I have all the episodes on an external harddrive and when there is nothing on the TV I tend to watch one or two episodes. GOT and Boardwalk Empire are by far the best shows on TV, although I did enjoy True Detective as well.

I know what you mean about the books. I started the first book almost 2 years ago, read about a third then college got in the way so I didn't pick it up again for a while and when I did I started again from the start but it just didn't grip me. For that size of book, it should have a compelling enough story to keep me gripped but it didn't happen for me so I sort of gave up halfway through. I always mean to go back and finish it but I'm dreading having to read half of that thing for a third time. So yeah I think I'll stick with the TV show for now. I'm hearing so many good things about it all the time.

The thing about GOT is they kill off so many of the main characters and you wonder how it will go on then they just get better! I never read spoliers of shows and I can't believe the effect things that happen on the show have on me, with this latest shock I actually felt like there was a death in the family I was that shocked! I actually rung the other half up at around half 10, not asking how she was or anything but to see if she had watched GOT and was it really true! I just had to speak to someone about it! It's sad to think i'm 32 and TV shows still have an effect on me like that, god knows what I would have done if I was 18 and watching this!

I'm 18 so let's see how that goes.

Agreed, it is brilliant, but what do you mean when you say you're "going for Sansa Stark"? Do you mean you're rooting for her?
not rooting mate, did you see yesterdays episode ?
Oh, I get ya now...
I'm gonna go for either Grandma Tyrell (you know, Diana Rigg's character) or maybe even Tyrion, although I doubt the latter. I have to say though, I am liking how Sansa and Tyrion seem to have bonded a bit over both being shit on by the Lannister's, now that Sansa has stopped with all her moaning, it's nice to see her trusting Tyrion a bit. With him locked up now though, what will that mean for her? I've seen Littlefinger on one of the trailers, will he try and lure her away again? God, this show's great

Seriously though, it is awesome. Just be careful what you read on the internet if you do get round to watching, there are A LOT of smug bastards who've read all the books, ruining it for the rest of us and dishing out spoilers
