Don't think theres ever a question about what gig from that period needs to be released, obviously people depending on where there from would want different gigs released but its got to be Knebworth man, this was an historic weekend and one that took Oasis to the next level, they showed they could smash it in large venues.
All that stuff means nothing to me tbh
I bought into all the mythical status of it during the 90s and early 00s but I'd rather a beast of the 90's live album or a few different gigs released in full. I'll buy the Knebworth stuff to keep my collection complete but it won't meant much to me. Both gigs were tired performances and some of Liam's "banter" sounds cringeworthy today.
It will also be fodder for people to hammer the band as just a 90's fad.
Anyone that thinks a band selling out three nights at Wembley in 2009 is a '90's band' is a little silly in my opinion.

Oh I agree but they sleepwalked their way through the final tour with a stagnated greatest hits set/shit gigs & to the man on the street Oasis are very much seen as a 90's act. I personally know people who could sing the first 3 albums from start to finish but they would struggle to even name more than 4 or 5 songs from the year 2000 onwards. SCYHO and LBL would be the most likely.
We are all nerd fans of the band so most of the time we look at them through rose tinted glasses failing to see the obvious flaws and taking on board the criticisms of them. The younger generation really seem to have the blinkers on but at that age I was the same. Over the top fan worship of bands, books, movies etc is very much a phase kids go through.
I am still very much a nerd for the band collecting everything, bootlegs etc but the hero worshiping is long gone.
I'm glad it's over tbh and am pumped for the new Noel album and excited about what Liam will do. As a nerd fan I'll buy anything they release from their past but Oasis are done.
My post isn't aimed at any one person in particular it's just my views from real life and many years on Oasis forums.

I hear you mate and to be fair I loved the Sunday at Wembley ha I know that attitude exists but it's such an ill informed one. Clearly they didn't hit the heights of morning glory or the build up to Be Here Now again but neither has any band since. If you look at oasis mark 2 history you will find 3 number one albums, three number one singles (I think - the Hindu times, Lyla and Idle) a fair few number two/three singles and more tickets sold than most band around. Obviously the quality of the music is a subjective thing but in my eyes if you put a best of Oasis 2002 - 2009 album most bands would be over the moon the match the quality of it. And that's not including Giants which could boost the success and the artistic success of my argument lol
I too a, glad it's over. I miss beady eye more than oasis because I think BE part two could have turned out really special. Fingers crossed the chief smashes it out the park this time.

I was at the slane gig which was an 80 thousand people sell out and on the day there were people rushing through without tickets, climbing fences etc and media reports put it at 100 thousand people which was dangerous due to the over crowding etc and they just put on a dull performance and going by the body language it's easy to tell now that the game was up.
If the slane gig had Oasis at their very best it would have been one of their best gigs due to their Irish links etc but it just wasn't to be.
Also agree on a best of album from the later years. In my book the best of post 90's Oasis is as good as the music from the first 3 records but they didn't connect with people sadly. Radiohead, Eminem and other artists took the torch for being the biggest most talked about musicians from the year 2000 on.

Exciting news! Hope they don't butcher it too much. Hopefully they'll hire a really talented team of people to edit that footage... I'd love love love to see something along the lines of the Stone Roses film, something that captures the magic of the moment as it was happening.

im one who would buy it for the collection but it was far from a great performence but lets face it was the stones at altamont ...nah it was the tragic events and the historic value , few at the shows remember or are critical of the show they delivered it was like the roses at heaton park an event. There are plenty of gigs to watch from oasis on the net noone needs this release really , much like the box sets it will be a huge disappointment to folks like me who remember what a great time it was between morning glory and be here now .
Hopefully they kick the arse right out of the releases. Like both nights on DVD and then release a live album of it too. Hopefully the support bands are on too, haven't seen any footage of Manics supporting at either gig, would love to see that!
Really really really want Loch Lomond released too!
I was at the first day of Loch Lomond and whilst I would buy it if it was released, it wasn't a great Oasis performance.
Oasis - Irvine Beach 14/7/95, Whitley Bay Ice-rink 19/1/96, Loch Lomond 3/8/96, Earls Court 25/9/97, SECC 7/12/97, Reebok Stadium 15/7/00, Murrayfield Stadium 29/7/00, Glasgow Green 26/8/00, Hampden Park 29/8/05.
To everyone saying Knebworth wasn't that great of a performance, then what show from that era was?
The Maine Road gigs were a lot better. Liam was pretty nasal on Knebworth and tbh even though I'm a big fan I didn't like Squire's solos on Champagne Supernova. Gig on the Cardiff Supernova gig was also top
earls court 95 was Liams peak, hitting the notes while keeping the power up to max , even in 96 he was starting to go downhill ever so slightly after those amazing gigs, maine road is probably THE gig of 96 for me, especially 2nd night.
knebworth is fairly meh for me, the scale was cool but Liam didnt sound too good imo very nasely and thin for that era, it had its moments though like slide away and columbia.
to me knebworth is one of those things that is on a pedestal but it wasnt really that good, it was their biggest gigs but no way near their best.

Strip away all the hype around Knebworth and it's a pretty average performance from that era.
All the gigs mentioned in the thread are far better sounding shows.
