at this point I am just going to assume that there must be some kind of block on them releasing this show as a live DVD. I just can't understand why they haven't done it yet. Specially considering that it is presented as the climax of Oasis' success in the documentary.
The absence of a live album makes even less sense considering they released "my big mouth" and "the masterplan" already. The picture book should be part of the album release as it's booklet, not a release on it's own.
Oasis management is just so weird. They release one single live album of Oasis (that wasn't even from their peak) and yet they have the audacity to clamp down on bootlegs and YouTube uploads. You can't really give people a hard time over bootlegs if you don't give people any official means of listening to this stuff. Why is there no live album of GMEX? or earls court? or main road?
They didn't even bother to put the missing songs back into the manchester show. Everything is just so half assed.
"unseen images"......the whole gig is basically unseen. If it wasn't for the leaked footage, we wouldn't have any means of experiencing it at all.
It could be but it is strange and it's a shame that we've never had an official release of a Knebworth cd and dvd. It's all very well releasing a book for both of the gigs 25th anniversary but I would love an official dvd release at least. I look forward to the book though as it's better than nothing at all I guess.
You can only look at other bands like The Who, Stones and Floyd who do proper jobs of releasing old gigs, but like what’s been mentioned before here, there must be some kind of block on the footage. It’s certainly a strange one, you would have thought if there was a good time to finally get this done it’ll be now with no touring happening. Was actually surprised a reissue of SOTSOG’s wasn’t done last year as well. Guess we’ll just have to enjoy the bootlegs til something does happen, at least they aren’t cut unlike some bands tend to do and cut the good stuff out, Verve at Wigan comes to mind, Ashcroft’s banter was priceless at that.
You can order the book on Amazon but it's £40 as it's a hard back book. I think I will wait for a while as I read on Stop Crying Your Heart Out that you can order it from other places as well but it doesn't say where.

£30 to £40 just seems like a massive rip off tbh. The "chasing the sun" albums came as hard back picture books with 3 discs of demos, live performances and remasters of both the album and it's b sides stored in the back sleeves, and they were priced at about £15 to £20 each.
They are basically charging double that for the book with no music included. I'm sure these pictures will be nice but I can't see much justification in the price.
For that sort of price, I would expect to get at least both nights included as live albums.

More than likely, it will probably be one of them where itll be a fiver at HMV with every purchase due to low sales. That's how I got Noel's tour book

It should be tbh. This book should be £10 at the very most really. Even £20 would be on the steep side for £40? complete joke.
Maybe the management just knows that many people likely won't be interested in it so whacked up the price to milk the collectors.

Wouldn't mind 20 quid for a good hardback but yeah, £40 seems pretty high for a standard hardback.
For comparison, I got Mark Lanegan's memoir as a hardback for £15 and that was signed by him. I cant fathom this price point unless it's a limited run or something special about it like Geddy Lee's Big Book of Bass which is admittedly still a bit expensive

Aren't most picture books expensive? And this isn't a 'official' Oasis product right? Most photo books I own were quite expensive. I got my Supersonic: The Oasis photographs by Michael Spencer Jones for 80 euros.
I wonder if we'll ever get a concert release. Oasis - Operation Gold would be a great title for a release. This summer, the 25th anniversary would be a good moment. If it isn't coming this summer or christmas (more interesting for sales) I can't see it happening for a while. Do we know for sure that Whitey/Guigsy is/are blocking the release? Or was it only for the Supersonic doc?
