Its been a year?! damn that went quick, hopeful that we will hear some new plans before long but seems unlikely with the oasis releases and Noels new album.
either going to be a hiatus then beady eye album number 3 or Liam calling quits until an oasis reunion (would be quite cool to see Liam make his return after a few years away to oasis)
either would suit me down to the ground. Love BE though, will always be an album that didnt get enough praise (partially their own fault with questionable tracklisting and single releases) but its a really strong album and gave them some more good tunes to fill their gigs with.
A year has gone really quick! Do we have an accurate sales figure for the album? What about DGSS? Did BE push that one I terms of sales much?
according to wikipedia, DGSS sold 200,000 (gold) and BE sold 60,000 (silver), in the UK (dont know international figures)
so if that is true its quite a step down but I suppose beady eye had the interest of the public after the oasis split with DGSS.
just of interest noel as of 2013 has sold around 739,000 in the UK.
Such a shame about BE really, with proper promotion and decent singles / b-sides and had Gem not had his series of accidents and Liam's love child becoming public knowledge I think it could have been a huge album for Beady Eye.
Everything just seemed to go against them last year unfortunately!
So that's why I had that urge to put it on today! Honestly, I had no idea. But I like that it obviously called out to me to be celebrated. And I still love that album, but I already knew that.
I strongly believe that "BE" was one of the best releases of 2013 (and not only for a guitar band).
I also believe that Beady Eye was one of the most unluckiest bands of 2013 [FOTF leak losing promo stems, losing #1 position with very good first week sales and all the other problems only a month after the release of the album that hurt very bad any momentum and interest about their album (Liam's story, Gem's accidents, lost festivals and late tour)].
I still think the management was ok (great producer, clever and different for a gallagher band advices and choices, new direction) even if it seems that it didnt work always very well.
We definitely had great things from that era such as : (amazing extra tracks from the deluxe editions, a free remix album "42:42", "Abbey Road acoustic Session" and 4 acoustic performances of "BE", morning Glastonbury glory, 3 great covers (Beatles - "Cry Baby Cry", Stones - "Gimme Shelter" and Harrison's "My Sweet Lord") a few live Oasis classics ("Live Forever", "Wonderwall", "Champagne Supernova", "Cigarettes N Alcohol", "Rock n Roll Star", "Columbia", "Morning Glory" and even a drunk "Songbird") and Liam' vocals in a very good form (most of the time).
I m sad that "BE" and Beady Eye lost a chance to put their mark to a bigger audience but i m more sad that all these problems as a result cost us more bonuses (more gigs, tours, eventents and new music with Liam's voice).
The whole "BE" experience, for more than a year now (and definitely for the future), was a very good company for me and i m grateful for Beady Eye, Liam, Gem, Andy, Chris and Jay for what they offered us so far.
Played the album in full along with the Japanese deluxe tracks and I really enjoyed it. One or two filler tracks but otherwise a great listen.
I'd make a couple of changes to the standard album but otherwise my favourite post Oasis album.

This happened years ago but Flick Of The Finger is the only Oasis related song that made me feel proper cool as fuck. I was at work listening to my music on shuffle with earphones, as I passed the door "Say what you believe." and as I started walking down this long narrow hallway the tune kicked in. Chills, felt like I was entering a PPV fight or something. Good fucking tune.
"With all the piss and the shit, the tunes gonna get done and I'm gonna sing it dickhead."

Flick of the finger and I'm just saying are the highlights off BE for me. It's a great sounding record. I prefer the production of it to DGSS.
I listened to the whole thing the other week, I think time has done it the world of good. I loved it when it came out but I think it holds up even better now.
