not a great fan of Liams voice on this album looking back, sounds thin and tired on a lot of the tracks. The more honest and stripped back production is probably abit of a negative on some tracks in that regard.
flick, soul love, SBOTA, start anew are the best tracks for me, rest of the album is abit forgettable after some years. just saying is a cheap oasis track, iz rite is another poor beatles attempt, shine a light is fun but the melody is abit too repetitive for a whole song.
Amazingly enough, I actually listen to DGSS more these days than I do BE. DGSS production is arse though.
overall BE has aged in different ways, I loved the album at the time and some tracks still hold up but there is many here that I havnt heard in years. Think Liams album has made me realise that beady eye was in fact lacking in a lot of aspects.
hope flick gets played in a LG setlist at some point.

BE was a good album with nice ideas, if only they tried to experiment a bit more... Andy put some remixes online and they sort of expanded the songs slightly, maybe if they'd have embraced that approach more during recordings. They just didn't have a GREAT song, that really let them down. Then Liam's personal problems, Gem's accident etc killed any momentum they had. Liam needed the break away from the limelight though!

Still really love the album, but have to agree, when you go back and listen to it now after As You Were and WMWN, it's noticeable how weak Liam's voice sounds.
But still a great bunch of songs. There's things I'd tweak like I think Flick of the Finger could have sounded a bit heavier, but I'd have it down as my favourite Beady Eye or High Flying Birds album, I think.
