Pretty Green Doesn’t Plan To Offer Women’s Line
Female fans of Liam Gallagher’s fashion line, Pretty Green, will have to wait a long while before the label will add a women’s collection. In a radio interview with the XFM Evening Show’s Danielle Perry, Gallagher has said that he is not planning on introducing a women’s line to his label in the near future. The Beady Eye frontman explained that, at present, he will concentrate on menswear because he feels that is where his design sensibilities are best suited. ‘I’m enough trouble as it is, mate, than designing women’s clothes,’ he told Danielle Perry. ‘I wouldn’t want to start putting shit out that doesn’t suit you, or make your arse look big.’
Pretty Green has already begun to preview its new S/S 2014 menswear and tailoring collection at select stores. The new collection of boldly-colored and patterned separates will expand upon the sophisticated mod style and signature rock n’ roll attitude for which the label is known.
The label recently collaborated with illustrator Jamie Hewlett, co-creator of virtual band Gorillaz, for a series of rock icon-inspired t-shirts to benefit Teenage Cancer Trust. The three limited-edition t-shirts feature rockers imitating the classic guitar poses of Pete Townshend of the Who, Thin Lizzy’s Phil Lynott, and Paul Weller (who inspired Gallagher’s fashion label with the Jam’s song, ‘Pretty Green’).
Gallagher also announced that Beady Eye will continue to tour their sophomore album, BE, in the new year. ‘We’ve got a Christmas break as from Wednesday. We’re kept in the dark about what’s going on next year. Which is nice, I guess. We just want to do gigs, you know what I mean? We want to get out there playing. Play this album to people, cos we think it’s cool.’
