Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City's own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis' most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it's ever known before.

I'm not too familiar with many of those actors but if any of them can do the job half as well as Bale did in The Dark Knight trilogy, I look forward to seeing it. I had my reservations about Batman and Superman being in the same universe and all that but I'm just going to try and enjoy this as a flick. It won't be as gripping or cleverly done as Nolan's films but if they get it right it could be pretty cool. They've certainly given themselves some time to work things out and not just rush out any old shit for the money.
Superman Vs Batman if that was the case, that the plot was centred around some sort of rivalry, now THAT would really float my boat...

I'm a bit of a comic book fan, and I've read a few comics about Batman Vs Superman, primarily World's Finest and The Dark Knight Returns. So I have a vague idea where they're going to go with this movie.
Essentially, after the events of Man of Steel, Lex Luthor is going to pledge billions of dollars to help re-build Metropolis (mostly to feed his ego and help his image as a TIME Man of the Year candidate) and also launching a smear campaign against Superman, for "causing his people's attack on Earth" and being "a menace who'll bring with him the end of modern civilization".
Then, Bruce Wayne will arrive in Metropolis, and being rivals in business with Lex, would too pledge a large amount of money into rebuilding Metropolis, and also donating millions to help the people left homeless due to the devastation. However, while in Metropolis, Bruce is also targeting Superman, being skeptical about Kal-El's powers and ability to use them non-lethally for good.
Eventually, Batman will discover Zod's deserted ship from the first film, and will construct a Kryptonian battle armor for himself (similar to the armor he wore in Dark Knight Returns), and will also discover Superman's only weakness - Kryptonite. The two will go head to head, with Batman's suit bringing the gap between his strength and Superman's.
Meanwhile, Luthor has also managed to find Zod's ship, and sent his LexCorp forensics to analyse the scene. After finding remnants of Kryptonite, he starts a Super-Solider-esque program, enlisting one of his employees to be experimented on to create a being able to defeat Superman - Metallo.
As this is going on, Batman will gain the upper hand on Superman, exposing the Kryptonite and weakening Kal-El. As Batman closes in on the final punch, buildings begin to fall and Metropolis is in panic as Metallo rampages through the city in search of Superman. Kal-El manages to talk to Bruce, explaining that he believes he is human, and his purpose is to help humanity from succumbing to evil, just like Batman's. The two forge an unlikely alliance and eventually defeat Metallo, removing his Krytonite heart and rendering him unable to function. Superman suspects this was Luthor's doing, and Batman realizes that Lex had played him all along, using Wayne to use his "powerful friend" up against Superman, in an attempt to "kill two birds with one stone".

Having not read any comics and barely having watched Superman, I don't have a clue about Zod and all that but that storyline certainly seems to have enough twists going on to keep it interesting. The crucial part for me is getting the casting for Batman right, the story sounds like its there and the guy who plays Superman from what I've seen seems to fit the part but if Batman's just a pretty boy like Val Kilmer in Batman Forever, Batman won't seem a formidable foe enough for Superman.

Mark Strong was asked on Twitter the other day if he would be interested in playing Lex, and he said something along the lines of "watch this space...". It's been rumoured all over the web that Strong and Cranston are the two favourites, so either one's fine with me!

Mark Strong!!! thats awesome as well. i would be happy with either of them. Cranston would make a good Commissioner Gordon if he ever pops up in this new DC Universe. He even voiced him in the Batman: Year One animated movie.
Mark Strong is the obvious choice in my opinion. Somehow he has that Lex Luthor look. Bryan Cranston would also be great. We all know what a talented actor he is but if it were up to me I'd go with Strong for this role.

Haha thanks, it's a really sketchy idea right now, but I think that's the style they have to go with - have them be rivals at first, fight and then team up to fight a bigger evil, and gain mutual respect for each other, setting up Justice League. Zod was the villian in Man of Steel, who was another Kryptonian who invaded Earth to find Superman and take over the Earth, and at the end of the film, they don't explain what happened to his ship filled with advanced Kryptonian technology, so I think this could be a good way to tie it back in with the first film.
I think Batman having special armor to fight Superman is all but confirmed now. It was one of the main parts of The Dark Knight Returns, which seems to be the film's main source material. Plus, it's not really believable that Batman could beat Superman without having a technological advantage. Below is the armor he wore in Returns.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. The only two actors who could pull of James Gordon have always been Gary Oldman and Bryan Cranston, and I've got the Year One movie, and his Gordon character is really interesting, because it's different to the Commissioner Gordon we're used to, he's got a lot of inner struggles, and Cranston plays it perfectly.
And, look at this, Strong is perfect for the role of Lex Luthor. It'd be criminal to give it to anybody else in my opinion. The only problem is that he played Sinestro in Green Lantern, but it looks like they're going to reboot Green Lantern anyway because it was a flop (hopefully John Stewart from the Justice League animated series is the next Lantern).

Yeah he fits the role perfectly. I hope they reboot G.L that movie was a mess. Even though Hal Jordan is my favourite G.L i think its best they go with John Stewart.
