It's a shame but it was expected. The sales of the second album was pretty poor and the tour was really badly organised in my opinion, the first album did ok as I think people thought it was going to be a brilliant album and most of the public was keen to see what Liam was going to do after Oasis, but at the last leg of the first album tour the sales again was really poor. I liked both albums, and seen them live plenty of times and they was great. Does this mean Gem will be a High Flying Bird now? I know Noel misses him.

Sad news indeed! Even though, I didn't expect this to last. This does open some interesting doors. Liam loves the spotlight, and I can't wait to see what he does next musically! As for Gem, seeing him with the High Flying Birds would be amazing, but I've a feeling he may want to break away from the Gallaghers for a bit, I could see him putting out some more of his own creations. Andy is who I am going to follow, I would LOVE if he got Ride back together!
Damn! I really like Beady Eye! They've got some incredible tunes between them, and it's a damn shame that more people haven't gotten a chance to hear them, just because of Liams reputation. They where a great team, and their last album is fantastic.
Hopefully, Liam will do some solo stuff now, and the other lads will do some cool stuff as well. I'm really hoping Gem will join up with Noel now. Will definitely be interesting to follow this situation as it progresses.
really sad news but expected, funny that only last week noel said they were still plugging away at it. Suppose they tried but they never really got over with most people.
Im actually kind of excited about it though as its a time for new beginnings, we already know Liam is planning a comeback so he will be doing something new.
Gem might join HFB (did anyone notice in noels new video there was a guitarist missing? could be clue hes planning to go over there) and andy might go and reunite ride or something, its only chris sharrock that will be left hanging and Liam might keep him around anyway.
gems wife said she only found out yesterday so i wonder what went on, Did Liam reach for the fruit basket again? I just hope it was mutual agreement by all four rather than a fall out.
I am kind of glad they did spilt. Don´t get me wrong I always wished them nothing but success in every aspect you can think of. But after seeing them two times live and two LPs I expected them to break up sooner or later. I hoped it would be sooner so that doors are open for a new direction for each member asap.
I highly respect that they went on together after the spilt of Oasis and that they did NOT under the banner of Oasis. I have even more respect that they accept that their try failed and they quit before ending up as a poor "Oasis minus one"-band respectively Oasis cover band. In this context: Lets be honest and ask yourself what had been the highlights of each BDI gig when people went mad?! You all know: The Oasis songs! This must have been a very disapponting for all of them.
At least I thank BDI for some good and some very few great tunes (Flick of the finger!). As stupid as it sounds I thank them for one of the most beautiful album covers of the last twenty years as well (Be). I am looking forward to the future.

Do we know if Gem has made a 100% recovery? Could him not being able to commit to a lengthy recording/tour cycle have made them decide to not carry on without him? Just throwing that out there.
If not, they are all talented respected musicians so they could easily slot into new bands etc etc.
My wish for Liam since the split has always been him making an album made up from a few songs he penned himself and the rest written by fellow musicians like Johnny Marr, Weller, Steve Craddock, Death In Vegas. The list is pretty endless of talented artists who'd be happy to record a song with him.
It's sad they called it a day but at some stage we will see them all again.

lou archer has retweeted stuff like
@liamgallagher shame- you had a good band there
so to me it sounds like Liam wanted out and less of a mutual decision, I mean it could just be the way Im reading it but there seems to be some deleted tweets that were there yesterday that were seemingly aimed at the situation.
plus apparently there was a tweet saying something along the lines of she only found yesterday and didn't know what happened, so it probably wasn't planned or consulted beforehand on gems end.
funny that some people are saying "a reunion must be imminent!!" though people seem to be forgetting that Noel will be busy for the next 1 to 2 years so even if oasis was to get back together, why would beady eye split now?

NME trailed Liam for next week at the back of the Noel issue, so maybe he says something in there that forced an announcement?
I reckon it played out along the lines of Liam sacked the manager earlier this year without consulting the others, a disagreement was had, they all left it to see how Liam ultimately reacted and he's now decided to go it alone, probably with the usual 'advisors' chipping in his ear. don't forget the 'no one tells LG when to throw in the towel' tweet and him then unfriending everyone inc bandmates - sad to put so much store on twitter but there's little else to go on!
The upshot is that if he's doing TCT in a few weeks and Noel has started his new campaign, it's the first time since the split their activities have over-lapped in any way at all, so at least that might mean things get interesting!
